Day+4

Hello Everyone,
Sherrie is doing well. Her white counts are rock bottom, so the only way to go from here is up. As expected some side effects are showing up. Her throat is extremely sore, so swallowing is a problem. Throwing up and nausea have been a problem also. Lot's of pain medications are being tried, so groggy periods throughout the day and night are typical. Hopefully, she will be in better shape and "outta here" in week. Stay tuned...

Hey Sherrie! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling pretty sick right now, but hopefully things will start getting better from here on out. Yesterday, I called the Christian network and requested they say a prayer on your behalf- as you're going through this transplant, and for a successful recovery. Please know you're in my heart, and in my prayers as well. Hang in there, love ya:)

I'm Jody's husband, Barry, and as she's told you, I know as well as anyone what you're going through. It sucks, but it WILL get better soon.
Hang in there and keep your spirits up and your food down.
Let me know if you want to compare notes.
Be well

Hi Sherrie,
I know that Day +4 is a really good thing in spite of how you feel. The mouth sores and the upset stomach will pass, but I have a sure feeling that the positive result will last. You hang-in, hang-out, hang-on and (if necessary) hang-over. and when you are tired of hanging???....just tie a knot in your rope and SWING:)
The Beagle Wars went well today. Sparky spent no time as a POW. I'm sure he will make up for it tomorrow, but I am grateful not to have had him as a kamikaze puppy for today. Tomorrow is the Farmer's Market again. Seems like that came around again awfully fast. We will go again, and again, for he has to learn. Last night he complained about going to bed. We had an intense discussion, both sides had their say, but he did go to bed:)
Rest well Sweetie. I will check your site again tomorrow. I hope that tonight and tomorrow are better days for you. You have come a long, long way and better days are on the way.
Blessings,
Erin W.

Hi, Sherrie

I've sent you some e-mail the past couple of weeks at your regular e-mail address, but now Laura says she isn't sure you have access to it. Please know that you are in our daily thoughts and prayers (and those of our church).
Your "blog" is terrific (it had to be bright pink! - like your hospital room decor)and I follow the updates first thing as I log on to our computer. Great job - and a wonderful gift to others.

Hopefully, the worst is past for you this past week and you'll be able to go HOME soon. But if for some reason you need to stay close to the hospital for a few extra days, I'll be in Chicago next weekend with Laura and we'd love to come see you.

Love and hugs,

Chris A.

Good Morning, Sherrie!

I hope that you’re feeling better today. I’m looking forward to your throat feeling better so that you can do another “Sherrie-oke” audio post on your blog!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on your blog. It’s really a neat thing to read about your progress and it’s heartwarming to see all of the nice notes that your friends have written to you. There are few things in life that are more valuable than a true friend…and you have tons of them!

You are constantly in my prayers and I know that God is keeping an eye on you.

God bless you,

Brad Gerbel

P.S. Scout thanks you for posting his picture on your blog!

Hi Sherrie
I hope that day +5 brings improvement.... and the yucky stuff gets further and further behind.... and on the topic of "yucky"... I came across this story:

Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this?" or "Why did God  do this to me?" Here is a wonderful explanation! A daughter is telling her mother how everything is going wrong. She's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "absolutely Mom, I love your cake".

"Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers. "Yuck" says her daughter.

"How about a couple of raw eggs?" "Gross, Mom!"

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?" "Mom, those are all yucky!"

To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.

Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Enjoy the view of the sunshine and blue skies today -- in your brief stay in a "downtown high-rise unit, with spectacular view of Lake Michigan!"

Hugs to you!
Love,
Auntie Char & Uncle Greasy
